Tuffy was perhaps the very first diapered cartoon character I saw (Followed by Fantastic Max and Whopper). My first attempt at drawing him during my Pre-Fur Affinity phase sucked (though I didn't have a pictorial reference). I decided to give it another go, using a picture for reference, and is much more favorable.

This is the “old” Tuffy, the one who predates the TV series Tuffy (where he was renamed Nibbles). He had 3 appearances in both the Our Gang Comics and Tom and Jerry Comics. This one is common in several of the comics I've seen so far. The first Tuffy had light brown fur with a gray belly. The other one looked just like Jerry from the TV series, but had slightly darker fur, I plan on drawing all of them. Jerry was actually identical in appearance to Tuffy with the exception of the diaper (Tuffy called it a didie). His diaper changed from a blank to one with a safety pin secured in the rear.

I was hesitant to draw a mouse because many of my idol characters are mice. Mrs. Brisby, Matthias, Mariel, Dandin, and to a lesser extent, Desperaux. I feel that drawing diapered mice would disrespect them. You know, thinking about my first sighting of Tuffy reminds me of the old cartoon network, where the background was checkered with faces of the characters. I miss that one, makes me sad when I think about it.
