Since diapers weren't used on the island until Paden discovered them (the infants were left nude), Paden wasn't fully aware of what his diapers were capable of. One day, while out doing some chores, Paden slipped and fell into a puddle. As he got up, his diaper felt heavier. He looked down and saw his diaper was bloated and hung low. Paden had no idea why it happened, as he didn't even use it. His diaper became so heavy, it broke the straps that held his loin cloth between his legs. Paden took off the soggy diaper and put on a fresh one that he kept in his loin cloth. He was bamboozled by what had happened.
