1st of September, 2001

It has been a year since I first entered the mysterious halls of Hogwarts. And in that year, a whole world I never knew existed laid bare before my eyes. I still don't know how all those spells and potions would be useful later in my life. More importantly, how I would ever be able to learn more useful things like Math and Geography? My mind has been wandering recently. I have begun to realise the underlying grammar of this castle. Nothing ever makes sense here. The Principles hold no meaning. Where there was a door now appears as a blank wall. And that classroom might as well be in a different room altogether. Focus, Jacob. You must not let your mind go astray. I believe I can still apply the Principles somehow. If I can, it will truly be the finding of a century! But how, these wizards and witches prefer to stay out of sight, out of mind...

15th of October, 2001

Been a while since I last wrote this journal. I have been very busy with classes lately. In about a week, the Quidditch season will start. I hope Hufflepuffs will take the cup this year. And speaking of Quidditch, I have taken it to myself to make it's rules more simpler with less reduntancies. I still don't understand why they have something like Bludgers on the field. Players can get themselves killed by all that is sacred! The Snitch meanwhile should be only released in the endgame. A hard timelimit per game should also be considered...

5th of November, 2001

I really wanted to believe that this is all a dream and yet it is real. All those spells and potions, how can anyone believe them to be real! How can someone with so much power change the world! Change the Principles! What can this all mean? All that I ever wanted was to have a normal life. If I can make one wish to come true, it's to get rid of this magic surging in my body. And then I can leave all of this behind. But it's impossible. I know it. The magic is part of me and I have to accept it. And yet, I fully intend to pursue scientific endeavours. I plan to not replace the Principles with magic. When there's a will, there will be a way...
