Biographical Data: Madeline Rivers is unmarried and single, living in a small town in the Talwyn nation. At the age of 21, she had moved to the capital city and taken up residence there. Incapable of bearing children, she often found herself left behind when many of her suitors learned she could not provide them with the young colt or filly they had hoped for with such an attractive mare. Left alone more than once, she began to grow despondent at the prospect of living in the large house all by herself.

She had considered moving back to her hometown when she discovered a young zebra girl left alone, her mother's body not far from where she had been left to wait. After researching the young girl she found that her name was Lauren and she had no other known relatives.

Madeline quickly adopted Lauren, who was a very curious girl with a highly organized mind and skilled memory. Lauren would sometimes give indications that she could sense things her adoptive mother could not perceive, almost a sort of sixth sense. She and her daughter moved back to her hometown.

She watched her daughter grow to womanhood with emotional fulfillment and pride, eventually discovering her aptitude for the craft and advising her to seek enrollment in the Tower.
