"Dent!" Afir shouted after bursting through the rooftop door. "Thank the spirits, I was worried."

Dent stared over the edge of their apartment complex, tears having soaked the fur on their face. They couldn't tear their eyes away from the grim glow of the ongoing atrocity.

"Dent, Olos and Ilima are gone. They said they were heading for the nearest spaceport. What's happening?" Afir asked with a trembling voice.

"The TPF is what's happening." Dent rested their head into their paw. "God, I knew this was gonna happen but it's still fuckin' scary." Renewed streams of tears began to flow from their eyes.

"Tonaman Purity Front?"

"A human I knew called them 'fascists'. After I looked up what that word meant, yeah, it sounds about right." Dent's voice trailed off as they reached into their pocket, producing an vaporizer. They pulled deeply from the end of it, the device's tip shining with a bright blue glow. "The smoke is coming from fertility clinics. Apparently some doctors were performing inter-species fertility therapy there, despite the practice being illegal on Tonama. And now they're torching the places."

Dent stepped away from the building's edge, walking back towards the door.

"What do we do?"

"Afir-" Dent paused, turning to face him with a pained look. "I don't know. But I'm leaving Tonama. I'm done with this world. I don't know what you're gonna do, but please take care of yourself."

Muffled explosions rumbled throughout the distant streets. Afir's ears drooped, before he stepped towards Dent.

"I mean, there's still a chance-"

"This planet had a million chances, Afir. We saw this coming for years now, if the people in charge of this fucking world gave a shit, something would have been done a long time ago." Dent stepped through the threshold, stopping for one last word.

"Afir, if you're gonna stay here, then stay safe, okay?"

"Spirits protect you." Afir said.

"Yeah... You too." Dent stepped down into the darkened stairwell.
