Order of the Sacred Star by Larchus

Order of the Sacred Star

Larchus

I drew this as a visualization of one of the more significant locations in my Dark Heresy campaign, Azer. Essentially a desert world heavily inspired by the Ottoman Empire, Azer is the capital world of Mara Sector, and its location in the safest warp lanes , and the center of the sector, make the world a thriving hub for trade and commerce.

The sister is a member of the Order of the Sacred Star. Unlike regular Sisters of Battle, their differrent interpretation of the Imperial Creed leads to a noticeable difference in their doctrine. First, only the Emperor and his kin are holy, and hence no members of the ecclesiarchy on Azer hold any power. The planet is governed by a standard governor. In addition, they never send cardinals, preists, confessors or saints into battle. They alternatively choose to send lesser sisters, conscripted Sororitas Janistus (glorified sister guardsmen) to fight the majority of their battles. Secondly, their order is non-iconoclastic. No revered structures, no paintings or saints, only the Emperor. This has lead to a contempt between the Order of the Holy Star and the Ecclesiarchy at large, who prefer brainwashing their followers with images and structures. This belief is even seen on their armor, the Mk II Qartal pattern armor, featuring a less revealing breast plate, and trades off depiction of the female curvature for additional thickness all around.

You know... world building.
