Rito Link Front View by KyuuGryphon

Rito Link Front View

KyuuGryphon

So, mainly just testing PostyBirb here (first non-FA post! yay!), but also, something I've been working on...

Back in late 2021-ish, I started working on a mod for Breath of the Wild that gave Link a Rito model. You can find it on FA here. Given that I wasn't very familiar with Blender at the time, I think it turned out pretty well, but there were a number of glaring issues with it (some animation bugs, some armour not working right/not being edited, etc.). While I'd meant to keep working on it, what was supposed to be a short-ish break ended up lasting a lot longer, and by the time Tears of the Kingdom rolled around, I'd, uh. Kinda forgotten a lot of the process behind BoTW modding. Oops.

So, I figured, since I want to get back to it - I should try and do things better this time. I've been working on it on-and-off since around ToTK's release, and while I don't have anything in-game yet, I've got a new and improved Rito Link model ready for rigging.

As part of the process, I took some screenshots at different angles of the original model (which was edited from Harth's), then drew up a model sheet, to figure out the proportions and detailing and whatnot. Here's what the front view looks like! On the model sheet, at least.

I don't have any estimate on when it's going to be ready. I've still got to rig the model, ensure the animations look alright, there's no weird deformations while moving, etc. etc. Once I'm sure I've got a high-quality base done, it'll be onto the other armour sets and whatnot. This is going to be a long-term thing, I imagine, but we'll see how it goes!
