kuniku were created by the gods and sent to earth to help the humans there fend off demons which were beginning to overwhelm the land. together with the humans they fought in a huge holy war, successfully pushing back the demons. currently in their world hundreds of years have passed since this war, nowadays demons still exist but they are rarely seen in the larger human settlements and are mostly found in packs in the wilderness or attacking small villages and farms.

kuniku have remained and live together with humans (although some prefer to live in the wilderness and have little contact with them). because they are considered a holy creation, and because they can fend off demon attacks, they are revered by humans and allowed to come and go anywhere they please. they are also housed and fed whenever they're around in the hopes they'll decide to stay in the area permanently, since they are such great protection.

they are virtually immortal, they only die if they are killed by a demon or some sort of accident (land slide etc).

currently there is a bit of a rift between the older and younger generations of kuniku. many of the young generations were born on earth and some may have never encountered a demon- particularly if they choose to live in the larger human towns and cities. these kuniku are more interested in eating tasty food, enjoying festivals and events, and lazing around having fun in general. the older kuniku who were either around for the war or were born in the aftermath are far more traditional and take their duty as guardians very seriously.

kuniku are a CLOSED SPECIES! i do plan to make adopts of them though! i want to share them around but i'm pretty protective of them haha
