kuniku species ref

kunicutie

made a little reference for kuniku- they're a closed species though! i'd love to be able to make a whole site for them like flight rising one day.. i can dream

a little bit about them-
kuniku are sacred guardians, in their world they were created by the gods and sent down to earth to help the humans there fight off demons in a big holy war. that war has been over for centuries now, and demons are still around but much more manageable and mainly found in the wilderness. kuniku nowadays live amongst humans or in the wilderness themselves, they're considered good luck to have around since they'll protect against any demon attacks and of course they're sacred- so humans feed them and give them shelter etc whenever they can. if they can pamper a kuniku enough that it permanently takes up residence in their town/home then woohoo

they can only eat meat if it's been killed by a human and then given to them- on their own they're herbivores (they're forbidden from killing, demons being the exception)

their tails are scaly and usually always striped in some manner, and they're born with tiny horn buds. the horns never stop growing over their life span and eventually start to branch (they grow very slowly though)

kuniku are immortal in that they only die if they're killed by a demon.

in current times, kuniku as a group are a little divided. there's the older ones that were around for the holy war that take their job as protectors of life and fighters of demons very seriously, and then there are the younger generations who have been born since then and never really experienced it- many of them would never have encountered a demon and are more focused on lolling around human settlements eating delicious food, being pampered and having fun.

OH- and their cheek fur grows longer and longer and gets braided!
