The inn room was small, modest, but plush. Darius knew they couldn't afford much more, let alone find another inn on the way, but he couldn't help the guilt rising in his chest as he caught sight of his beloved red trying to carefully scoot through a rather precarious section of the main room. It'd been a long few weeks of travel, Darius couldn't imagine the strain it had put on Taylor, who was carrying more than just his own weight.
"Tay, why don't you get cleaned up and rest?" Darius inquired from across the quaint room when he noted the red beginning to organize the pack they had brought along for supplies, "You can organize later, okay?" The ruby slanted him a rather exasperated look as he began to carefully peel his own shirt off, sliding it over the previously hidden bulge of his abdomen. They'd been traveling non-stop since they'd first realized Taylor was pregnant with their egg, Darius hadn't once gotten a good look at his progression, and now it had left him utterly without words. He slowly approached Taylor from behind while the red slipped out of his boots and pants as well, the larger drake's hand extending, then suddenly retracting nervously when the amber gaze of his partner shifted over.
"Is... is it okay if I...?" Taylor smirked and jolted as if he'd laughed, then reached up with both hands to take Darius's in his own. He smiled and kept his eyes locked onto Darius's, while the white simply stared down at his belly in pure astonishment and adoration. Taylor guided the large hand to the smooth skin and pressed it there gently, firmly, to let Darius know he could touch it all he wanted. It amused Taylor to no end whenever he could render his white speechless, he'd done it only a few times before, and now was no exception. Darius's mouth wavered between opened and closed as he valiantly sought out the words to express just how happy he was, but instead nothing came but the salty presence of tears. He had to sit down as his legs grew weak and Taylor immediately took the opportunity to plop down on the plush bed and lean back into the bare chest of his companion.
Darius quickly reacted, raising his one arm to hold fast to the exhausted red and hold him close to the warmth he could offer, all while admiring the ruby colored form of his beloved partner.
"You're... so beautiful, Tay."
