River Fishing by Krown

River Fishing

Krown

Drawn by Rakko from FA
Character is mine

The Halia Cove was arguably the most picture perfect spot on Thayar; at least to Rackle it seemed so On the left side of the cove the palms and mangroves overlooked the white sands of the banks, ideal for sunbathing and general lounging, and just a little ways back into the forest beyond the coastline was where Rackle had discovered, to his delight, a cave already dug out like the burrow he’d hatched in, and had quickly taken it for his own.

Rackle, wandered through the Crystal River now, the water lapping at his ankles as it swirled around rocks. He’d been up late the past few nights with the challenge of moon fishing. During this time of peace under the moons’ bright light, Alafia, and Netia as the astronomers would call them, Rackle would normally take refuge under overhanging mangrove branches, water lapping against his side, half in, half out of the warm water, the feathers from his evening hunt taken away by the tide. Occasionally he’d splash water over his back just to feel that bizarre tingle one receives when warm water cascades down the spine, and it helped sooth his knuckle joints; they’d felt rather sore and stiff the past few days. All the while he sat and listened to the pitch and roar of the oncoming waves as they collapsed under their own weight.

Rackle had stated tonight doing that lovely activity, but chose instead to rise up to his feet to walk across through the river, snapping at, and catching, the few fish that dared swim past him; he continued to do this until his hunger was sedated, but not belly-dragging full. From here he launched upwards, pounding the air with powerful strokes of his wings, the ground growing momentarily smaller, but ceased in doing so once he leveled off; he’d not far to fly.
