Shayl is an earth-focused elementalist wizard who revels in playing up being a Real Wizard, with staff and hat. She isn't tied to any one setting; I've used the character in "Worlds Without Number", and a Sonic-themed RPG.

Within the "Questor" world, pro spellcasters wear hats whose breadth and depth represent the owner's skillset. Long windsock? Specialist. Coolie hat? Versatile hedge mage. Traditional wizard hat? Wide and tall skills. In that world Shayl would probably be an eccentric who is less special than she thinks, and who wants to go out into the wider world to awe foreigners.
