"It was an accident!"

So declared Kloe, as the larger girl reached a paw over to pet consolingly at her friend's head. The younger girl was frozen in place, still taken aback by surprise.

"Now, now, Noodle. It could happen to anyone, goodness knows how tricky tails can be, with their swishing, and their swooshing. It's only a matter of time till it knocks something, for example some kitty's ice-cream cone, in just such a way that it splatters all over their face and chest in a slightly compromising manner. You know, hypothetically."

She paused to nod in agreement with herself before continuing,

"Sure it seems like careful planning and intention would be required for such a result, but honest! Sheer chance at work here! And hey! The fact that I bought you vanilla, the stickiest, and whitest of the ice creams, there's some more amazing coincidence for you! When you think of it that way, you should be glad you got to witness this truly astronomically unlikely event!" On and on the blue haired feline rambled, seemingly feeling the overwhelming need to reassure her smaller friend that it was the forces of chaos at work here. As she gathered her wits, the other feline didn't seem quite so convinced, surprise segueing into anger. Anger directed at the girl on the other end of that nigh-on miraculous tail.

Kloe lifted her paws before her in an attempt to defuse the growing situation. "There there, I understand you're upset, ice cream all over your pretty face, and that wonderful swimsuit that I forced you...I mean graciously gave you as a present!" She paused, glancing around with a nervous smile, hoping no one in the growing crowd watching the scene unfold noticed her little slip. "I'm touched you treasure it so much already, really, I am! Don't you worry though! Big sis is here to help, lick it off, good as new!" She nodded happily to herself. Truly she was the greatest elder sister figure ever for stepping up to the plate like this. Yet there was undeniably a worrying edge to the grin growing on her muzzle, and the mischevious glint in her eye. "Now...just...hold....STILL!"

A few minutes later the smaller feline would carry no trace of ice-cream upon her. Sure it had required much squirming and flailing to be overcome, one broken set of glasses, mild bruising, a few errant scratches and rather unlady-like threats involving the intended locations that Noodle desired to stick Kloe's popsicle stick, but, it was done. As always the Great and Mighty Kloe had lived up to her word.

As she watched the flustered kitten storm off, squinting through the one unshattered lens remaining on her glasses' bent frame, Kloe couldn't help but let out a contented sigh. She patted her tail affectionately, congratulating it on a job well done.

"Totally worth it"

It's summer! Swimsuits! Ice cream! Kitties! Unnecessary stories! It's what the season's all about!
