I was watching a nature documentary about deserts and its fauna with my boyfriend already some time ago (like, months). I really love painting and creating desert-like environments so I got super inspired and drew the sketch for this one. :) Well only now I got around painting it, turned out to be a bit speedy with it but tbh I was more focused on the feel and color scheme generally, didn't want to get too frustrated with details etc. I'm sorry if it looks a bit messy! The canine there turned out to be a bit jackal-ish, though it's completely imaginary so I wasn't trying to paint an actual species here. :)

For some reason, this reminds me of Wolf's Rain. And that's definitely a good thing in my books :3
A bleak, somewhat hopeless looking situation, and a determined canine..A beautiful picture in my opinion. Despite how monotonous the colours are, I think it works well wonderfully, here ^^

Now that you mention it, yes, it does remind me of Wolf's Rain, too! The atmosphere in the anime is very close to this one and I'm glad you think so. :3 It's really honoring, so thanks for saying so!!

Nice atmosphere, I like how the mountains in the background fade into the haze. Looks a little apocalyptic, actually, but the Jackal seems to be happy enough to be there.
