That's what I'd like to know! I mean, I hear people caution against stepping in puddles, which makes sense, but most people's argument against socks+sandals doesn't seem to go any deeper than "IT'S A FASHION NO-NO".

What's wrong with that? The Romans did it when they took over half of Europa. I still do it myself.
