You and me...I thought we had something..

Even though I awoke to the reality that it was nothing.

The schism between us was already there, ever since I told you how much I care.

All my wishes, hopes, and dreams...

...are to remain just that.

Eternally trapped inside my head, under a melancholic hat.

I immersed myself in you, never letting you out of my mind.

I felt I was cursed to be me, though you always stood near, as a light I could find.

Your vibrant happiness made me see...

...that the only thing I could truly do to make you happy..

...is to leave you, without me.

I'm so grateful to have known you in my life, as your blunt honesty cut my glass heart with a knife..

Making me happy that you would never lie to me, yet killing me to the same degree.

...But it's not your fault.

Despite you putting my dreams to a sudden halt, it isn't your fault.

I understand that you can't love me back, yet I feel like I can't live with that...

As I awake, my dreams fading away, to my dismay..

As I turn to gray, fade to black, you leaving me to decay...

Though you've made me feel the worst...
