Experimenting more with that shading I've been mucking around with. This time paired with lines with more character than a plain 5 pixel brush.
Putting lines on a woman's face is hard.
Cartoon and anime land is typically this weird place where they will let fighting people to the death with nosehair and all sorts of nonsense pass, but a lot of it is very restrictive on how women can look. I've noticed some artists can draw a huge variety of men, but their women are barely different from each other (while other artists are terrible on variety on both fronts...).
I know I sometimes feel weird drawing women who aren't generically attractive or cute even though by all logic I shouldn't. Epifan is described as ugly in the novel, but I keep drawing her pretty average.
