Jolson & Jones #21 - Kitchen Sink by Kaoru

Jolson & Jones #21 - Kitchen Sink

By the end of December I started to have problem with keeping up with the comic. I suffered from a strange end-of-the-year exhaustion (from which I still haven't really recovered, no idea what's up with THAT really, but hey), and I had very little time on my hands to draw. Or even energy. So I thought I could solve that problem with switching the comic to a strip format. This way I'd have less panels to draw, and I could probably draw more of THESE in a week than a full page. (They often feel like a mountain to climb once you start them.)

It was only a short-term solution, however. I realized pretty quickly that the strip format didn't really fit for this comic, or at least what I had in mind for it. I missed messing around with panels and generally I found it a hard format to adapt to. So after doing a few of these I decided I would have to go back to the full pages. To which I stuck to ever since.

Then there was the problem that I began to write myself into a corner. The original plan for this storyline to resolve was to have two political figures having a debate in that restaurant, interrupted by an attack by extremists. But when I was just about to get to that part the Charlie Hebdo thing happened I really couldn't do that anymore. At least not without looking like a really stupid ass. So I started to wobble around and hoped to get out of that storyline alive somehow. And boy was it a pain.
