Other info: The Crats of Wing Haven are a fascinating species, and are the perfect mix of cat, rat, and bat. While appearing to have the lean, muscular structure of a Panther, their front legs are actually dual-purpose arms. It is upon these arms their bat-like wings are, the membrane reaching all the way up the arm. They flap their wings similarly to a bat when idling, but more like a World of WarCraft Wyvern when in transit. They live in forests, mountainous regions, and underground because they make caves their home. Their ears, while furry like a cat's, are taller and wider like a bat's. This meaning that they have sharp senses of hearing. Their ears also have a large range of motion, being able to move into different angles like a horse can. While normally cats have somewhat flat faces, the rat in the Crats extends their snouts. They have two sets of nostrils: the cat nose on the snout, and two bat-like nostril holes in between their eyes. Their eyes, by the way, are purely cat-like in nature. Their tales are rat-like, but have wing-like membrane going along both sides, but not meeting at any point on the tail.

They commonly are in 'packs', but loners are often observed. In their homes, Female Crats construct nests for them and their pups, while the Males hang from the ceiling like bats. This is because what allows bats to hang upside without getting light-headed is within the Males, but not the Females. So once the pups are old enough, the boys start sleeping with the older Males, while the females remain in the nests.

When encountering a Crat, make sure you have no weapons upon you. If you make a good impression, you will befriend the Crats, and if they have one, their pack. Since Crats seem to understand speech, it is fairly easy to commune with the beasts. They, like the Nic' Lians, utilize body language to its utmost effectiveness. Crats hunt in a manner combining the stalking of a cat, and the flying of a bat. They stalk, oftentimes while in flight, but usually from the limbs of tall trees. Once the moment is right, they lunge from their elevation and go for the kill. Their teeth are strange, as they have all pointed teeth, a manner combining cat and bat, but have two buck teeth in the front. This must be in connection to the rats, as they use this to dice up the vegetables and fruits they devour, but not with meats.

Like with Earthen cats, Female Crats often bathe their pups by licking their entire form. Unfortunately, the pups seem to despise this, and struggle against the parent, whining during so.
