Beyond nanotech lies the strange realm of picotech, in which matter is transformed at the atomic scale. On this infinitesimal frontier stands Arisu, playing with fundamental interactions as through they were parlor tricks. Arisu certainly enjoys the handsome paychecks from the Corporation, but her experiments also serve her own more eccentric impulses. (She's even tried a few out on herself, but don't tell the Board.) Fortunately, the confinement fields have never fluctuated, the grid has never cut out, and nothing has ever gotten out of the lab.
At least, nothing that anyone knows about...

Universes go two directions. Exploding to infinity all around us, and collapsing the other way. Smaller and smaller. You can look and find the edges of everything. The little blocks of matter, the strings of wiggling energy gluing it whole. So the fun comes in playing with the bonds, the stitches and watching it unravel, ready to be resown to a new fabric of reality. Clotho meets Lachesis at the weaving of atoms.
