St. 45

JohannvM

Text is from the Vǫluspá, stanza 45

Brœðr munu berjask ok at bǫnum verðask,
munu systrungar sifjum spilla;
hart er í heimi, hórdómr mikill
skeggǫld, skálmǫld, skildir ru klofnir,
vindǫld, vargǫld, áðr verǫld steypisk;
mun engi maðr ǫðrum þyrma.

Brothers will fight and become each other's banes,
cousins will spoil kinships;
Hard it is in the world, and much adultery
Axe-age, sword-age, shields're cloven,
wind-age, warg-age, before the world falls;
No man will spare the other.

The design is itself from rune stone from the late Viking Age
The text is my own transcription, based on the best of my knowledge of runic inscriptions.
