Don't Back Down

Izzyhime

Even in the cold rocky wasteland, Bunni could no longer hide in it's unyielding mountain ranges these days. She knew that one of her sisters would find her, or that Kat would send Edward out to search for her. She was quite surprised that one of her more well equipped family members to find her, or even Taki to brave the trek; but alas, she was nonplussed when she saw Kala's rather bulky form come into view.

It wasn't the fact that she was a little more than slim, close enough to be fat but had enough muscle and sinew in her body for someone to hesitant in calling her such. Kala huffed, unused to the strain since she gave birth to her son, Kaen.

"What are you doing here, Kala?" Bunni asked, completely forgetting to act sullen.

"To get you, of course!" she panted, though with another few heavy puffs she regained her breath back.

"I'm not leaving, and there's nothing you can do or say to change how I feel," Bunni replied with a rather uncharacteristically serious, rough tone.

Kala shook her head, trying to reason with her eldest sibling.

"Bunni...people change. Nothing ever stays the same. Think of it this way, if we were never in danger sometimes, or if your wolf clan had obeyed without question, things would get boring, wouldn't it?"

Bunni snorted at the thought of her and Taki's wolf clan being complacent. But it struck a small nerve to hear any ill comment against the clan that she had been with and was raised for a good portion of her younger life.

"They're the best pack I've ever been in, I'm greatful for every single one, even if they are a bit rowdy," Bunni sniffed, causing Kala to snicker--Bunni sounded so much like Kitt when she tried to act aloof.

"You really don't plan to stay up here, living as a mountain werewolf or whatever else you'd call yourself," Kala was really amused now.

Bunni sighed. She knew as well as Kala that she could never live solitary. Bunni enjoyed company too much.

"I guess I was just scared...what if...she doesn't like me?" Bunni whispered in a scared, quavery voice.

Kala's slightly teasing features composed into one of understanding and sympathy.

"Well, no matter what happens, we'll always be there for you Bunni. Don't despair yet. You know that Taki has never abandoned your side, and neither will we. Come on, let's go home," she said reassuringly.

Bunni smiled, realizing her trek to the mountains might have gotten her the time to herself that she wanted, but it would never last once she realized how imporant everyone else was to her.

Bunni got up, grinning like her old self once again.

"Home!"
