Starting a new d&d campaign in the near future and came up with a new character, a tabxai Tiefling named Xarris Darkclaw. The story I have in my head for him is this:


Xarris' parents were secret members of the cult to the god of the hunt, Malar. When he was born, they feared if people saw him that it would expose their dabbling with evil, and decided to send him away. He was found and raised in an orphanage where he was teased due to his tiefling heritage, something that made him not very trusting of others. Upon adulthood he set out to try and learn more about his real family, eventually leading him to a temple dedicated to Malar. This was were the dark god would speak to him and inform him of his destiny of being his herald. Naturally Xarris refused this "Honor" and walked away, unaware Malar had already granted him with his boon... Soon enough Xarris found himself with a growing hunger, one that would prompt him to seek out prey to feast on, a hunger that wouldn't go away unless he consumed something that once was living. This would eventually forced him to agree to be Malar's herald and becoming a cleric in his name, if only to have a form of control over this hunger. He not happy about this arrangement, especially since the hunger cast upon him has started to take a toll on his waistline... especially now with rumors of a strange phenomenon washing over the continent that has been spreading gluttony and hedonism through magical means. Sent on a mission by Malar to find a source of this strange occurrence, Xarris must now put his faith in the beastlord, even though he doesn't have a say in the matter.
