There was this interesting idea I had where there would be a country that NEVER has any color; everything in that country is just black and white, which is why the small family we see here are colorless. These people are known to be called the Monochrites, and they usually never see any colors or barely get any visitors outside from their colorless country. Most of the people will feel xenophobic if they see any colors, but I'm sure if they see colorful things enough, they will probably feel curious and feel that colors aren't dangerous as they first thought

Could this be why we see the Wyvern mother trying to hug and comfort her human son as her human husband stands beside her, hoping that harm won't ever come to them? It might be their first time seeing colors in their entire life.
