Weird Jynx-Inspired Creatures

Hlavco

Out of all Gen 1 pokemon, I've always considered Jynx to be, like, bottom-of-the-bottom tier. So I thought, "Maybe I'd like it better if it were animal-inspired instead of human-inspired?"

Image 1: My first thought was to change Jynx's big lips into a big nose. The first animal that this brought to mind was a mole, so I decided to go in that direction. I turned the large blue hands of its early design into digging claws. The blonde hair became some golden fluff around the neck, and the red dress became a red underbelly. So here's Mole Jynx.

Image 2: That was okay, but I think Jynx's hair is a defining feature, and it's too much of a departure for the mole to have a totally unadorned head. So I went back to square one: The nose. You know what else has a big nose? A koala. They've also got big, fuzzy ears, so I made the ears gold with long, dangly fur. This time, I pulled a page from Braixen's playbook and turned the dress into a fluffy pseudo-skirt.

I made the front paws white to mimic the white arms Jynx has in some designs. I decided to keep the big mole claws and tail becuase they were cool, but turned the claws a lighter blue to sort of make the ice typing more apparent. Here's Koala-Mole Jynx.

Image 3: You know, that sorta looks more like a Muppet than a Pokemon. But hey, Sawk and Throh exist, so there's precedent. I thought the fluff on those ears might be a little over the top, so I set about toning it down a little. While doing so, I was reminded of those really fluffy moths you see in pictures sometimes. So... I decided to add some insect features. Here's Koala-Mole-Moth Jynx, everyone's favorite Psychic/Ice/Ground/Bug/Flying type.

Bottom row: Lastly, I did a couple simpler variants: One without the white arms, and another without any white accents at all.

None of these are really anything like original Jynx, but I like how they came out.
