I took this at work today when i was setting the eyes on a Stock Pheasant. They usually end up looking like this after i tuck the bottom lid. Alway pissed and looking rather bemused at the fact that they have a wire sticking out of their skulls.
it makes me smile each time :3
Unicorn Pheasants rare species indeed!
This will also be my image for how i feel towards people who say things to me like.
"YOUR SO CRUEL!!! HOW CAN YOU DO WHAT YOU DO!!! your sick...." etc.
I've heard it all and i just roll my eyes at those people.
Why have the wire out through the skull? or is it more for stability? I've been avoiding birds, I attempted to do one... oh my disaster central haha nothing went right, lost so many feathers I ended up giving up tbh. When I did the head though I wired up the "neck" and put wire into the skull and clayed it in. Probably going to be sticking to mammals, but still sort of keen to at least have some knowledge on birds even if I hate working on them :P
the skull was clayed before hand and yes it is for stability. It keeps the head in place(on the bigger thicker skulled bird you had to drill a hole before doing so). But the clay shrinks and dries around the wire and keeps the head in place when it's all said and done. Also having the wire sticking out like that helped in posing the head and neck so that I wasn't handling the feathers and skin too much with my hands.
