Now I'm not one to cast judgment on other peoples' fetishes, because I hardly have the room to do it. But I discovered a kink on another art site that was more disturbing than most... genital mutilation. Now the castration thing has been around for a while, and I'm not a fan of that either, but there are also some folks who find removing a woman's clitoris (typically while young and typically against their will) arousing.

Nooooooo. No no no no no.

That sort of thing, known as female genital mutilation, happens in real life. I'm not going to single out any specific belief or country for it, because it's unfortunately a widespread phenomenon. Famous health advocate and all-around creep John Harvey Kellogg used to circumcise boys and girls at the turn of the last century, in the belief that it would discourage them from masturbating. (Oddly, this man of sterling moral fiber was quite fond of giving his patients yogurt enemas. Transference much?)

Female genital mutilation offers no apparent health benefits but continues to be practiced throughout the world. The motivation is typically rooted in religious dogma, which strikes me as an absurd contradiction. (God made you perfectly in his image, but let's just hack off a few parts anyway!) Sexual suppression is also a factor, and that just strikes me as tragic. The only thing more distressing than fetishizing FGM is the sentiment that's often expressed in these drawings. "That's the last orgasm SHE'LL ever have!" What horrible irony to throw away a lifetime of pleasure for someone else so you can enjoy a few fleeting minutes of your own.

Anyway. Ada ain't having it... her clit is staying right where it is.
