One of the larger pieces I did for Anomalous Animals of the Americas show. Wendigo are somewhat stretching it on “animals” but definitely qualify as animalistic. A lot of modern pop culture versions incorporate antlers for some reason.

I went more with the traditional spirit possession version, slowly turning more monstrous until the cycle starts anew. In most cases no distinction is made between someone that turns to cannibalism knowingly or unknowingly, so I really wanted to do child wendigo. Amidst plenty, so many children go to bed hungry. when times become desperate, how far would a parent go?

As to actual construction, the wendigo child is MOSTLY paper mache. The body is all sealed paper mache. The face and hands were done with thermoplastic. The head was originally pulled from a super duper creepy model head mold I borrowed from local artist Jim Felice.
