Vampire Slayer - Armadan Dewaloren

Personal history;

Armadan Dewaloren's actual birthday is a mystery even to himself, but the year can roughly to be assumed to be 1629-1631. He was an orphan, found in a pile of filth in the streets of Gatah, the great capitol of the Gatah Empire. Abandoned, or his parents had met a cruel fate, none can say. Quite probably the latter, for sergals were rare in the city, and none were too highly respected. Unust lynching parties were not unheard of. Armadan was raised in an orphanage until he was about six years old, then fate took it's turn in his life again. An old man whose wife had died years ago, leaving him a lonely widow whose children had already begun their own lives, adopted the nameless sergal child after visiting the oprhanage. Why? None know.

He was named Armadan, after the man's great grandfather, who was one of the pioneers to build the city of Gatah so long ago.Armadan naturally also adopted the family name, Dewaloren. The old man, Mados Dewaloren, proved to be an excellent father to Armadan. Caring, understanding, loving, and ever so watchful. Because Mados was rich, he could send Armadan to a private school, and Armadan showed great interest in studying, much of a surprise to the teacher, considering Armadan was, indeed, a sergal. Even further surprised, he behaved well, and even when provoked kept his cool. Most of the time. A reminder of his origins did pop up once, when he was teased beyond the point where he could not hold his anger any longer, mauling the fellow student in a condition that left him in the city hospital for weeks. They should have not called Mados a "fake" father. For despite being usually cool, he is so very loyal to his loved ones. Armadan had quite a lot of spiritual education as well, Mados being a highly religious man, after all. Armadan didn't quite devote himself to the many gods of Gatah, but did see the wisdom in the teachings. Because of the high-quality private school, Armadan was also taught swordplay that any noble child should learn, excelling in it thanks to his natural speed combined with strength.

When Armadan was at his late teenage years, Mados took him to a little target practicing with his flintlock rifle. Armadan soon proved to be not just a skilled swordsman, but a natural talent with firearms, so Mados bought him a flintlock pistol as a birthday gift, which Armadan happily used on his free time to hone his skills.

When he finally reached adulthood, he took his place in the society as the great library's caretaker. He could be near books, and in peace. He loved it. People were often surprised to see a sergal tending the library with such care. And even more surprised when they were greeted with a soft, calm voice instead of a growl. A few years later, the great vampire outbreak began. The city Guard could not deal with such predators as quickly as the people demanded, and a bloody revolt began amongst the terrified and angry people. Lynching parties were out to kill anyone who they suspected of being a vampire. But vampires are clever, and more often than not, people killed innocent people in their fear and rage. This further helped the vampires to prey on the weak, Mados being one of their victims. Mados was old... and by the time, alone, as Armadan was staying in the library for the night to see the revolts did not spread in the great halls and spit it's filth on the books he so loved. He found out about Mados'es fate next morning. Enraged, Armadan took his pistol and sword, and vowed to hunt down the beasts no matter what the cost. He did not join the bloody revolt, though. He studied, first. The library offered him vast knowledge on how to deal with vampires. He wanted to know his prey. Prepared, but nervous... he set off to kill every last one. And as he did, in his rage, his sergal instincts kicked in once again, making him devour a vampire's heart after an confrontation with one of the cursed beasts. It soon became an obsession to him, and it did seem to grant him some of the vampires powers, that he used against them, until after many months of hunting, he killed the last vampire in Gatah. And ate it's heart, with a vile grin on his face.

Celebrated by the city that slowly recovered from the outbreak and the bloody revolt that had left so many families, so many homes empty, hollow, Armadan could not enjoy himself for long. He had nothing but the books in the city, but those could not please this fire burning inside him any longer. He used Mados'es heritage to equip himself properly, for he had found what he could devote himself for. A hunter, that hunts the other hunters. A vampire slayer. Fitting.

As for what has happened to him in his many, long years as a vampire slayer, that, you have to ask about himself personally. He has many stories to share. Some happier. Some grimmer. Some he will never speak about

" Vampires. They are not stupid. Quite the opposite. But, being ageless makes them lurk in the dark, not taking any chances. I suppose I cannot blame them for that... such power, that they can still loose after one well aimed shot. They are arrogant, yes. But not stupid. I respect them for that.

I hate them for everything else they are. Hate them with all my heart. "

I wrote that half-seriously a long time ago, been adding to it ever since. And, it got a tad longer than originally intended.

This character... I am not sure what was the original idea about it, but it turned out to be a sergal that is quite unlike other sergals, and also a vampire slayer. Vampire slayer idea was somewhat inspired by music, believe it or not.

As inexperienced as I am with fur, and sergals to begin with, I do quite like how he turned out to be. Also. I am aware that sergals do not have teeth at the tip of their snouts, but Armadan does, side effect on all that vampire hear eating <3 So I also added a more furious expression to the right to show his less-calm side.

And I have to say, I liked designing that outfit!
