Was sitting out by the pool and the thought, "Wow, I really live in California," came to me, as it sometimes does when it's warm and sunny and the palm trees are swaying in the breeze. I always wanted to live here, ever since I came to Disneyland as a kid. And now I do! Anyway, for some reason Katy Perry's California Gurls popped into my head, and I thought of Envy, and just had to draw him posing poolside. I gave him an ice-cream patterned bikini top as a nod to the fun costumes in the music video (I didn't give him whipped cream can nipples, but I thought about it). And he gets a rocket pop, of course, because those just say 'essence of summer' to me.
