In the distance, the dinner bell rings, alerting the family that it's dinner time, that they should all come down and eat! For Mordecai, however, that just means to find the first thing he can eat. Sometimes furniture, other times actual food, but often what he finds first that'd satisfy him, lizards. It's not that he hates lizards, or loves them... They're just so convenient, always walking around the castle, working on keeping it clean or laundry or cooking... He loves the ones who deliver food, especially. There's nothing special to it, really, with such a big mouth, everything can be his food.
Richter just so happened to be close to Mordecai tonight. Richter, knowing the greedy pudge well, just decides to enjoy his fate for his youngest Master. He enjoys it, anyway, getting the chance to be his Master's food. Who knows? Maybe he was even near Mordecai because it was almost dinner time...
