Powers II

Redo of an old deviation.

Anakelictics in this world describes the condition of one's powers. There are nine types, each with 80 techniques to master and a respective (but long forgotten) deity.

Clockwise from top right:

Fire (Pop. 405.8 Million): The most common power (for those who have them). What fire dragons lack in defense they make up for with a mean streak of offensive flame attacks. They cannot use their the vast majority of their powers underwater, and the rain weakens their powers. Expectedly, they have high tolerance for heat and low for cold. Their powers are influenced by the Sun, and their season is Summer.

Water (Pop. 397.0 Million): Next most common after fire, water dragons excel in abilities that protect them, but suffer in offense. Born with retractable fins, gills, the innate ability to swim, they are perfectly at home in water. Water dragons have high tolerance for cold, but cannot stand heat and dryness. Their powers are influenced by the Moon, and their season is Winter. And of course, actual water is required for all of their abilities. Ice dragons are a sub-type of this race, but most water dragons learn to use and abuse the power of ice.

Earth (Pop. 380.2 Million): Out of the four standard elements, there are the fewest in number, but still have the fourth-highest population. A rather proud race, earth dragons use their strong, muscular bodies to manipulate the earth for attack and defense. However, they suffer in speed compared to other races, but can take much more damage. Metal dragons are a sub-type of this race, but some earth dragons can learn to manipulate metal. Their season is Spring. Like the water dragons, they require actual earth to use their abilities.

Air (Pop. 392.8 Million): The third-most populous race is characterized in part by having weaker-than-average attacks and less durability than other races. However, their high evasiveness--jumping higher and running/flying faster than all other races (except Thunder)--makes up for this. Typically, air dragons are lightweight, which helps them stay at the top of their game. Like earth and water dragons, they need actual air to use their powers. Their season is Autumn.

Grass/Eco (Pop. 379.1 Million): As the name suggests, the fifth largest race has power over all things nature, and like the previous three races require their element--in this case, organic matter--to use their abilities. Ecodragons have green thumbs and can grow any plant they choose to. They love the heat and the light of the Sun, and can use carbon dioxide in place of oxygen to survive for limited periods. Fittingly, their season is Spring, when life begins anew.

Thunder (Pop. 2.6 Million): An endangered race, thunder dragons have expert control over electricity. They are known for being much more fast and agile than other races. Like the earth dragons, they are a proud people and will voraciously defend their heritage. Their power increases during thunderstorms, and natural lightning (as well as other sources of electricity but themselves/other thunder dragons) heals them and restores energy. However, they will take recoil damage if they use their powers underwater. Their season is Summer, when thunderstorms occur most often. The main character of this 'novel,' Rex Lightning, is a thunder dragon.

Light (Pop. 368.3 Million): Sixth-largest in population, light dragons can manipulate light as well as produce their own. They are known for their healing prowess and defensive abilities, but have offensive capabilities as well. Generally, light dragons have kind, benevolent spirits and are usually willing to help others. Like fire dragons, their powers are influenced by the Sun, and they share the season of Summer, when the days are long and nights are short, with the fire and thunder races.

Shadow (Pop. 366.9 Million): Seventh-largest population-wise, shadow dragons are imbued with the power of darkness. However, that's not to say they are evil--no, most shadow dragons are law-abiding citizens. Shadow dragons sacrifice defense for a plethora of offensive capabilities and have above-average power compared to other races. They tend to possess strong wills and are wary of others. Their season is Winter, when the days are shorter and night falls earlier.

Psychic (Pop. 355.7 Million): Like shadow dragons, the second smallest race has above-average power. Their powerful brains are well past capable of stereotypical psychic abilities such as telekinesis and mind-reading. This race tends to be wise and provides insight and knowledge to the other races. Due to their unorthodox powers, psychic dragons are currently unassociated with any season.

Powerless/Generic (Center, Pop. 4.27 Billion): A bit more than half of the Dracexian population has no anakelictics whatsoever. However, they are still given the same opportunities and treatment as those gifted with powers. These dragons use more conventional means of offense and defense, such as firearms, knifes, and bulletproof vests.

Dracexian Population total: 7,318,400,000!
