I'm Not In Love (Original Composition)

everestian

Admittedly, I am kind of new to the love game. In fact I never had a solid relationship in my life, and I'm still looking for love. However, I wanted to make a song about rejection, mainly because I haven't focused on that topic and I wanted to try my hand with new lyrical techniques and phrasing.

Hopefully I did my best to be emotive; I didn't want to appear TOO corny in this one. :P

I also applied a multi-tracked piano wall towards the end. See if you can spot it.

Enjoy and thanks for listening, guys and gals!

LYRICS:
I’m not in love with you anymore
I thought you deemed it special
It seems I had a prized illusion

I’m not in love with your little games
I bought a record you liked
That you then sold to your friend in New York

You called me just to say you were well, oh
Distended with the joy of having found, oh
The man who spoke sweet nothings who claimed to make love with all your friends

I’m not in love with you anymore
You thought my love was threatening
Accusing me of stunted emotions

You give me a gift that I still cherish
I have the strength to speak my mind
I told you to leave and set me free

I had the chance to see her with her flame, oh
She had a bruise on her thigh so blue, oh
The man who spoke sweet nothings had a chance to show his thanks
