Game Review: Super Mario RPG

I actually have never played the original so this is a review from the viewpoint of someone who has no nostalgia for the game. This classic is the very bedrock of all the classic Mario RPG series like Mario and Luigi or Paper Mario, so it deserves a good amount of respect for what came after it. The story overall is pretty simple but very fun like most Mario stories so it's no strike against it. This game is chock full of original enemies and characters that unfortunately never return (probably because this was a joint project with Square Enix) like Mallow and Genos who is a fan favorite. Gameplay it plays like paper Mario with the execution of attacks and defending. Though honestly the timing on defending can be kinda tricky. there are a few new features to this remake, such as combo boosts, and a team attack you charge up. You can also listen to both the new and original soundtrack as you play which are both great. I don't think it's better than most of the Mario Luigi games and first two paper Mario games, but I had a great time playing this classic RPG and highly recommend it to any switch owner and RPG fan
