F.A.Q. Facepalming by Endium

F.A.Q. Facepalming

Endium

I get a number of questions on a semi-frequent basis, so I'm just going to try and address as many that come to me here.

Can I use your ideas and/or characters?

Yes, by all means! If I somehow inspire you to create, create away and do whatever you wish. I do not wish to obstruct or otherwise get in the way of the creative process. The things I create will likely outlive me anyways, and I take a level of comfort in that.

Do you take commissions?

Yes, but only through my journals when I open them.

How and when do I pay you for commissions?

I send out notes to people when I've finished up a picture, it contains all the relevant information. I don't ask for any money upfront unless it's a large amount of money, and in such cases it's usually half the total amount as a deposit.

Do you take requests?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: There are the odd exception here and there, but it's only when the request is something that I find myself enamored with, and I feel that I have to do a take on that idea.

Is my idea something that will get your interest then?

Probably not, sorry.

Do you do art trades?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: My success rate with art trades in the past has been around maybe 33%. Which is to say for every three pictures I've done I've gotten one back, and I feel this is a generous number. I haven't tried doing art trades during my time here on FA, nor do I have any intention of starting now. Past experience simply has soured me to the concept on a whole.

But what about the stuff between you and   thelonelydragon ?

A fair number of those pictures were commissions to start with, and he did quite a number of gift arts that I found amusing and I had the inclination to do the occasional 'revenge' picture. It also helped a great deal that his character is very easy to draw.

Do you do collaborations?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: I do them sometimes with people I know or friends. Mostly because they know me well enough to offer up an idea I might be interested in participating in. Even then it's hard to do collaborations because sooner or later you're going to be waiting on someone, or someone is going to waiting on you.

Can I be your friend?

You're going to be rather resourceful and persistent to end up being my friend. I'm a rather distant person on a whole, and arguably high maintenance as I rarely engage other people of my own volition. This is mostly because I'm an island on to myself and it's really just other people who drop by to visit now and then. That and I'm horrible at small talk, which means you need to engage me on some kind of intellectual level.

Can you do an RP with me?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Nooooooooo. I only really RP with people I know, and even then very rarely. I don't feel comfortable doing it with people I don't know, or barely know. RPing is an artform, and that means having a good grasp of the English language and communication skills. Those with poor writing skills also make poor RPers. Though that's only part of the problem; the other part of the problem is that for any RP to function properly you need to know the likes, dislikes, and limits of the person you're engaged with. This requires the establishment of a relationship, friendship and the like. It's all a lot of work for it to be something that functions properly; otherwise it ultimately ends up being awkward for at least one person, if not both.

I hope I haven't gotten on your nerves

This isn't really a question, but a sentiment I get now and then. It's not particularly easy to grate on my nerves. The only thing that really drives me up the wall is willful ignorance and stupidity, doesn't matter the subject or topic. I honestly do not care in the slightest about being 'right' in any matter, I just care about expanding my breadth of knowledge. That is simply a consequence of learning: You will be wrong more often than you are right. The world, let alone the universe is fucking vast and huge, by default everyone is going to be more wrong than they are right. Unfortunately a lot of people do care that they are right, and at all costs. They will do anything in their power to be right. They'll twist facts, invent truths, accept straight out lies just so they'll remain in the right. These people are usually the easiest to offend, the quickest to run off at the mouth, and never ever listen to anyone who disagrees with them. Such people are impossible to talk to or interact with, and I have limited interest in engaging with such individuals for any length of time. Sure these people can be perfectly nice, up until the point you disagree with them; then you'll incur their full wrath.

So if you're not one of those people, odds are you'll never get on my nerves.
