That version's certainly not without its appeal. I'd have to put a bit more love into getting the edges of the shading just right to make it really work; I just slopped in whatever felt like it would vaguely work, and let the blur cover all my mistakes for a nice 'airbrush' look.

I actually really like what it looks like minus the blurring, but I'm also a sucker for hard edges.
