Roscoe Rat at Horrorhound/Maskfest convention (critique requested)

duskysam

I dressed up as Roscoe Rat (aka Rat Bastard) at the Indianapolis Horrorhound/Maskfest convention this past weekend. I tried on a new wardrobe that better reflected his everyday look in the comic, vs. the more severe look on the cover of Small Doses. It worked out well! I entered the costume contest, walked around the con and was stopped here and there for photos and comments. It was cool, and not your usual Jason, Leatherface or Chucky cosplay (lots of those around!).

    The glasses make it

They were a good thrift find from years back. Smith and Wesson field sunglasses actually, with the stems removed. Without them it would be my own eyes showing, which might work better with yellow contact lenses.

Horror...hound? How did I not know about this? It sounds like my kind of scene! Would be nice if it was closer, but oh well. I also missed out on meeting Elvira a couple weeks back thanks to not checking my Facebook. I really need to start working on my own costume. (Not DBM-related)

It was my first time to the event, though I knew of it from a few years back. There is another event happening next spring in Ohio, and horror conventions happen all over the States. The first and only other horror con I went to was Chiller in NJ back in 2004. Depending on where you are at, I'm sure there is something around. This might be the last horror con I go to for awhile, but there are lots of comic cons and other themed events that Roscoe and other characters can walk around in that will be a good fit.

And start working on your costume, I'd love to see what you make!

It's literally a Catholic priest cassock with a scary leather Doberman hood. I will bless the white girls with a dog dick on a scepter. I need to find one that isn't some cheap Walmart bullshit!

Oh fuck, that sounds hot. (I said that in public, dear God.) I tried looking for priest robes a few years ago on eBay. A lot are Chinese polyester deals, but you may luck out and find something more interesting at a good price. The scepter and mask are all custom work, I recommend mounting a decent dog dildo onto a reasonably ornate staff. Shoot, now I really want to see this!

I'm in Boston, so there's going to be a lot of stuff still going on. Especially in Salem, which is a madhouse this time of year. I always worry if those little regional cons are losing their shirts or not, but oh well. I would love to get a suit similar to Papa Emeritus from Ghost, but way too expensive. I'd like to figure out a way to get some inverted crosses going on it, but oh well. They have real cassocks on Catholic clothing sites, not bad at $200 or so! I've had my mask for years, but the scepter was just a joke. I would totally do it at a fetish/porn convention though. I really wish Bad Dragon would make a canine version of their giant dragon tongue dildo, as I'd use that in a heartbeat and rub it on girls' faces.

I am going to have my claws I got at Anthrocon-- very similar to these: https://www.etsy.com/listing/206133913/black-leather-dragon-claw-gauntlets?ref=shop_home_active_13

The last time I ever had a cassock was in the church choir back when I was a good religious boy. If I wanted one now it would be for a lecherous priest-creep character in complete bad taste, so best I avoid that for the time being.

Papa Emeritus is quite the flavor of the moment these days, there might be inexpensive versions to be found, though likely bad Chinese knock-offs. As for dog dick scepters, I could always take a stab at fabricating something for you. This will ensure that I go to hell.
