"Little Perspectives: Headstands"
It's a funny but fun kind of feeling,
when the sky makes its way to the floor,
when your head hugs the ground
while your feet flop around
toe-to-toe with a forested ceiling.
Though the birds look a tad bit confusing,
with their tummies all turned facing up,
they still chirp and still fly
and I just can't deny
that they're now even far more amusing.
Mommy, try it! It might not be easy,
but I know you'll admire the view;
and besides, if you do,
maybe Daddy will too:
think he'll laugh, like you did, when he sees me?
As many of you can probably tell by now, is pretty much my go-to inspiration for children's poetry! This one is especially short but no less powerful than my previous submissions! I began the title of this poem with the tag "Little Perspectives:" because I hope to write more poems in the same vein--from the innocent and fanciful perspective of a child.
This poem was entirely inspired by Jazzycat's Portrait of Xavie, the adorable piece of art which serves as the cover art for this poem.
NOTE: The above cover art is copyrighted to and was used with her permission.
I hope you guys get a good smile out of this one! :D
