Forest speedpaint (critique requested)

OMG I DID THIS!? :O

I recently got photoshop and I wanted to mess around in it. I found this speedpainting tutorial (http://vesner.deviantart.com/art/Speedpainting-tutorial-2928675000) and used one picture reference (http://cdn.teckler.com/images/Lestat/e039fb43d29f27e2a384c766e44eea51.jpg). Granted, it wasn't really 'speedy', I reckon it took me about 2 - 3 hours. But still! :D proud

I would really appreciate constructive criticism!

Oh wow, I had plans for tackling this tutorial this week! Weird coincidence~ :o Ahem Sorry about that. I think you've done a fantastic job with this! Really love the depth you've created with the foliage. My only qualm and suggestion would be that you should blur out the paths a little and/or fill them in with flat colors so that they aren't just outlines. It really distracts from the softer surroundings.

Yes I see what you mean. I had a bit of difficulty with the path myself, at first it seemed radiant for some reason, haha, I managed to tone it down dramatically already. Photoshop doesn't really do what I want to yet, I've tried blurring it but the blur was too strong. I'd have to fidget around with the buttons some more, I'm sure it can be done, I just don't know how yet! But thank you for your comment, it was very helpful! Good luck with your first try on speedpainting! I thought it was alot of fun, even though I probably spent more time looking around in Photoshop than actually painting, haha!

Hmm. If you have the paths drawn on a separate layer of it's own, then I think you can experiment around with the Hue and Saturation of that layer. You can even check off colorize to play around with different colors! And if the blur is coming off too strong, try lowering the opacity a bit and giving it another shot.

That said, you're very welcome! I'm glad that I'm able to help others~ Photoshop is definitely very intimidating at first, but you'll certainly get used to it soon enough. Thank you for the encouragement, I'll give it my best shot!

I did have the path drawn on a seperate layer but I didn't think of messing around with the color settings of it! I'll remember the bit about lowering the opacity of the blur tool too, thanks! :D

And it is! ;_; There are such a shitload of options/buttons haha it's so easy to get lost! Super curious to see what you will make :)

That's great! In that case, I believe you can hit CTRL + U and immediately bring up the window for it. Just one of many many many shortcuts. XP

Also, I recommend you check out this site out, as I think you might find it quite beneficial~ http://www.ctrlpaint.com/

Oh I've nosed around that site but that was about a year ago or so. I'll check it out again, thanks! :D
