We will get some backstory :)
....Doc's background is probably going to be the longest one to unfold over the course of the entire story as it'll pop up in bits and pieces rather than all at once.

Ooh, some Doc backstory incoming?
I'm loving this btw! Doc's had a hard life, he drowns himself in abusive substances. He's obviously avoiding things.
