One trick I use for hands is that the pinkie is usually extended off from the wrist - so if you were to continue the wrist line it would bisect between pinkie and ring finger.
This only works if you are drawing the small inset of the wrist though, if you were to just draw off from say the extensor muscles in a straight line it wouldn't work.
