Blackbird by Diretooth

Where are you, gentle Blackbird?
Are you nested in your heavenly perch,
watching us in our daily lives?
Or do you lay on the path,
devoured by the hunter,
who sought you as prey?

Why do you sing, gentle Blackbird?
Is it because your eyes see
light that no Human can fathom?
Or do you sing for the hearts,
those that feel grief for those
who lost their souls to hatred?

Why do you fly, gentle Blackbird?
Is it simply from the joy of the wind,
as it lifts you up higher into the sky?
or is it simply to escape into the blue,
to leave behind the sorrows of the world,
leaving behind only a subtle feather?

Blackbird

Diretooth

One of my better poems. It's short, sweet, and to the point.
