You're around 22. You're going to visit your long distance girlfriend. You've got an 8 hour layover on the outskirts of Toledo, nowhere to order food from, and just a crappy vending machine to work from. This is your second trip. You've already been on a train for about 3 hours, and you wish you could travel like this forever. You spend a lot of time in the dining car because you can really just spread out there... You're in america's midwest, listening to albums and songs you downloaded PWYC ($0) from Deep Elm, and whatever indie bands you've found up until that point.. You change your mp3 player (phones didn't have much storage back then) to a band that one day you'll remember the name to. You have nothing to worry about but you're still stressed because you're surrounded by strangers, and the lingering anxiety held over from elementary and preschool "stranger danger" VHS tapes make you think that everybody is out to get you... And you're still not even out yet.
