During my attempt to find out if he used the line in Good Omens, I found a version of the joke in Darkplace (the TV horror spoof).
"…I'm sure we all feel that he [Larry] exploded too young, but, the Lord moves in mysterious ways. Sometimes, he'll come in at an angle.…"

I never saw Darkplace, but I've seen hilarious quotes like that, so maybe I was unconsciously paraphrasing that instead.
