The Toledo Zoo has an Amur tiger now (maybe it's old news; they didn't have one the last time I was there), and he was quite active. You can get about fifteen feet from him.
There's mesh, but shooting wide open with a longer lens (180mm at f/2.8, in this case) will make it disappear.
