“The Pharaoh is making an appearance today!” The calls wailed throughout the city as the excited masses flocked to the Temple of Sobek to take the opportunity to see the high priest, Pharaoh, the ‘Voice of Sobek’ in public in front of his people.

It was a rare instance to get to see him up close. He usually stayed in the temple away from the public’s eyes, only taking part in rituals and other religious ceremony to honor who prophecy has called his father, the god of the Nile. But today, he took it upon himself to make a trip outside of the usual temple walls and into the public courtyard. It didn’t take long for the word to spread throughout the whole city that he would be appearing.

“Your holiness please! Do not sully yourself dealing with the peasants! They are not worthy.” A robed crocodile pleads amongst the group following him, begging him to not ‘lower’ himself. Silver eyes coldly turn back to them, “Your advisement has been accounted for. But I grow weary of these walls, so I shall bask in the sun of the public court today. I’m well bodied to take care of my own wellness.” The large crocodile then turns and walks at a leisurely pace out to the courtyard.

Whispers and gasps and talk quickly begin and all in eye shot fall to their knees and bow as Dematraxus walks by. The corners of his mouth curl into a confident smile as all who witness him prostrate themselves before him as he walks to the center, shaded area of the open courtyard. As moments pass by more and more start to flood into the gates, bowing, admiring, gazing upon the one they serve with awe.

He looks back as one of the Anubian Jackals falls to his knees to touch his tail. The jackal gasps as he touches it with shaken hands, “Y-Your holiness, f-forgive me.” Dematraxus then shakes his head with a soft chuckle, “No, you are a follower of the gods as well, do not ask for forgiveness”. He then turns back to the crowd as they gaze upon his immaculately kept scales and clothing, “My father and I welcome you all here….”
