Akeno is a sweet girl who grew up to understand and not judge people bases on first glances, as she had been mistreated because of misconceptions of who she was. So when she saw a beaten delinquent in the alley instead of ignoring him she came to her help. It was obvious he liked her and they went out, she began to like him and eventually told him that she was transgender, biologically male but she saw herself as a girl. Ikki (the delinquent) was confused and frustrated but knew he loved Akeno and didn't care, Akeno was his girlfriend and that's all that mattered to him. They both knew Hikaru (on the bottom) as Akeno and Hikaru dated briefly, became friends and Hikaru was the first person to support her. Hikaru is part of the delinquent group of friends with Ikki even though she isn't a deliquent herself.
