Rastus and Cy are brothers, unicorn hybrids, who had lived in a community that coexisted with humans, they adopted each others cultures and grew together. However many forms of of dangerous came to terrorize from demons to witches and other humans. One day humans from a foreign land came to their home because they heard drinking unicorn blood would make someone immortal. So they killed off all the humans and enslaved almost all hybrids. Cy had been able to hide after he watched his parents being slaughtered, while Rastus had been trying to lead humans into safety. They were secluded in the fairy forest for a few years until they met Xander, a black Pegasus. An outcast from his own species, rendered to roam, forced to join a war, enslavement, torture, forced to inseminate other female Pegasus and became a wanted creature. The three then begin to journey out to the world, Xander and Rastus eventually falling in love.

Using his blood Rastus began to heal all of Xander's scars, as he believed that Xander needed a new life, to start a new. However he could not do that with the constant reminders littered over his body, he knew he could not go forward into the future if he was obstructed by his past. Xander was angry when Rastus first did it.
