"Ah-ha! I caught you both!" Jake folded his arms crossly.

"Uh... It's not what it looks like."

"It's exactly what it looks like. You've been stealing the cookies every night!" Jake sighed. "No wonder we keep having to buy more as soon as we restock them."

Taylor swallowed her current mouthful. Ahya was greedily snarfing up the remainder in her paw. "Ahya made me do it. I didn't want to, but she pressured me into eating them!" Ahya gave her an offended look.

Jake was unconvinced. "She's your tail. You could have said no. You are just as guilty as she is by going along with it."

"They're not all gone. See?" She held up and shook the jar. "There's quite a few more left."

"Yeah, but what if I hadn't caught you? Would they be all gone tomorrow?" He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Those cookies are for the kids. They are little rewards for them doing chores and good behavior. How are we to bribe them when they're being stubborn if you're eating them all?"

"Look, I promise this was the last time! We'll go buy more tomorrow, ok?" Taylor pleaded. "Just don't tell the kids..."

"I won't if you promise me one thing." Jake was smug.

Taylor shut the lid on the jar, wary of his intentions. "And what's that?"

"I get my little snack tonight." He looked her up and down.

After a moment, she realized what he meant. She smirked back. "Deal." Ahya licked her lips.
