I had this idea for the longest time regarding Taylor and how her first day at public school would be. Knowing that she would be unique in all the world, with a tail that has a mouth, she would obviously get stared at and maybe even judged for being a freak. This uncertainty and the scared looks of her fellow classmates as she steps onto the bus was central to the core of her character growing up - of feeling different than everyone else, of being an outcast. This is part of what shapes her teenage and adult years and I wanted to capture the feelings and essence of that pivotal moment as she leaves the safety of home where her mom and dad have accepted who she is and into the wider world where she may not be so welcomed.
